Queen's Day - April 30, 2002

On the 30 of April 2002, Foundation Save a Russian Child participated in the street market that is traditionally held every year as part of the Queen's Birthday celebration in Amsterdam.

We set up our stall early in the morning on the De Clerqstraat equipped with a signboard, leaflets and lots of items for sale (kindly donated to us by numerous individuals).
The morning started off very rainy & cold so the streets were quite empty. Fortunately the weather improved in the early afternoon so then many more people came out on to the streets. Which thankfully allowed us to make the most of this campaigning opportunity.
We distributed leaflets, sold all kinds of things (second hand clothes, CD's, books, crockery etc.), collected donations and, of course, tried to tell people about our cause.

Despite the weather and thanks to the great motivation and effort of few volunteers who always support the foundation, the action attracted enough attention to be a success.
The amount raised on the day totalled 191.46 Euro.
All the money collected will be donated to the Crimean Regional Children Hospital in Simferopol (Ukraine).

We would like to express our gratitude to our enthusiastic volunteers Donatella Alberici, Julie McCulloch, Penka & Ivan Fonseka, Herko van Bergen, Ljuda Tsiba - and to everyone who contributed to make this campaign a success.
