| On the 30 of April 2003, Foundation Save
a Russian Child participated in the Queens Day street market for the second year
running. Selling toys, CD's, Video's, second hand clothes
you name it, we
sold it! All with the purpose of raising funds for the Project
"Infuse Pumps" for the Regional Children Hospital in Simferopol.
This year we set up our stall on crossing of Apollolaan and Beethovenstraat, with
sales commencing at 6:30am. Everything went perfectly in the morning, the weather
was nice, dry & the Market was packed with people searching for bargains-Trade
seemed to be going well. But around 1pm the heavy rain began and after having
waited for two more hours showed no signs of stopping. So we packed up the remainder
of our items & left the washed out Market place, a bit disappointed that due
to the unforeseen circumstances we may not have managed achieved our full potential. However
despite of the unfortunate turn in the weather conditions early in the afternoon
we still managed to raise the amount of 305 euros. Which although might
not seem a great deal, will contribute to helping the children at the hospital.
So all in all the campaign was successful and produced the
desired result! Now we are patiently waiting for the next Queen's Day! We
would like to express our gratitude to the enthusiastic volunteers: Carlo
Ziviello, Julie McCulloch, Penka Fonseka, Marina Kouzakova - and to everyone who
contributed to make this campaign a success. |
