VLADIMIR KHACHATURIAN
age 14
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia
(non ?-cell) - SECOND RELAPSE

Vladimir has died on March 6, 2003...

On this photo you can see me and my son Vladimir. It's summer 1999 and we are in the sanatorium. We had very good time there but the tragedy that turned out our life was sneaking up already ... Reseach showed that Vladimir has leikemie relapse ...

This was his first relapse. After 8 months in the hospital and 4 years of disability ...sufferings and hopes... all of this Vladimir had to go through again ...

And now - relapse has repeated. And there is no other choice than last one, the most harsh one - BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION.

Irina Khachaturian (mother):
My son and me are in the isolated ward. Undergoing course of very strong chemiotherapy. Vladimir lost all his heair again, became completely bald, eyelashes are falling out too... He suffers enormousely and doesn't want to accept that he is ill again. Last time when we were here Vladimir was 11 and he was saying : "I don't understand - why all those people who are walking on the street are not happy that they are healthy and not sick?"..

Pre-treatment before the transplantation has started. But the operation itself is under big question - Khachaturian family has no money even for the basic medication... how can we talk about the transplantation which cost way too much for them...

Irina Khachaturian:
My husband has left us when Vladimir got sick for the first time ... Now he agreed to do test for being potential donor of bone marrow, but not more than that. He won't be helping us financially ..

Vladimir and Irina need a lot of phsyhological and financial support ... When you know that other people know and remember about you, support and understand your tragedy - it gives the energy. They really hope that there are people who will help them to get out of this situation.

Irina Khachaturian:
Due to the illness Vladimir never went to a normal school - he had to study with private teathers who were visiting him at home. he likes to draw, make something from wood, to assamble. He likes to read books and magazines about the cars. But most of all he want to be healthy!

I'm asking your kind hearts - please help Vladimir!
