The Russian Childrens Clinical Hospital (RCCH) is located at Leninskij prospect, 117 in Moscow. It is a unique institution, one of its kind in the whole of Russia. Children from diverse parts of the country come here when they can't find help in their cities and towns. These children have the most horrific and some times incurable diseases: cancer, kidney decease, leukemia, immunity disorders. Children after the earthquake in Armenia were brought here, Tchechenian refugees and children of Chernobyl are receiving treatment here. The hospital's capacity is 1025 beds. There are unique divisions of specialized care for children: bone marrow transplants and kidney transplants, microvascular surgery, reconstructive surgery, general hematology, oncohematology, clinical immunology, neurosurgery. Up to 30% of the RCCH activity is cost intensive treatment approaches. 10,000 patients receive treatment at the hospital every year. Approximately 8,000 children are treated as outpatients. Approximately 90% of the RCCH's patients come from outside of major cities. In spite of the sever want in the state subsidies the hospital retains the free treatment approach as much as possible. RPCH is a large educational and scientific hub. It hosts 14 departments of the Medical University and two research institutes (Institute of Hematology and Institute of Clinical Genetics). In order to approach the practical, educational, and scientific tasks RPCH has created a powerful diagnostic core which requires large expenditures for maintenance, material supply, repair and constant renewal.
