Once again "Guinness
UDV" showed their support by donating half of the funds raised from the
company's Christmas charity raffle on 10th December 2001 to our Foundation. The
other charity fortunate enough to benefit from the remaining half of the funds
collected is "Africakwaba" (www.africakwaba.com). Again this campaign
received much support & the total amount raised was FL 2960,- (1343,- Euro)
which was split 50-50 between both charities - this means "Russisch Kind"
received a donation of FL 1480,- (672,- Euro). Thanks to everyone who helped
organised the event and to all those who contributed in order to help us provide
aid to sick children. A month ago we received an urgent request from The
Haematology department of the Children's Hospital in Crimea to provide second
hand infusion pumps as the equipment they are currently using has long surpassed
the normal lifespan of such equipment & will not be of use much longer. This
means the children are now in the situation where they have to wait/queue one
after another to receive treatment. Therefore we propose to use the funds
raised to purchase the requested second hand infuse pumps as new equipment is
too expensive. Once again we would like to thank everyone
who was involved in this campaign and have made their contributon.
22-01-2002 From the beginning of December
last year until now we have been searching for second hand infusion pumps through
countless hospitals & dealers. Unfortunately, the only affordable pumps we
found during our search were in such poor condition, that the use of this equipment
could potentially be dangerous for the patients. The minimum price for a
new infusion system starts from 1400 EUR, which we can not afford at the moment.
Therefore at present there was no viable option to fulfil this project, although
our investigation still continues. In the meantime the Children's Hospital
of Crimea contacted us with details of a young boy who is desperately in need
of urgent treatment after suffering a relapse. Alexy Gustenko requires a second
bone marrow transplantation for his condition lymphoma. After discussions with
the Charity Foundation "Parental Initiative" who are based at the hospital,
we decided that the best use of the funds raised from this campaign would be to
donate the money towards the cost of Alexy's operation. Read
