We were kindly given permission by the Russian
Orthodox Church of Amsterdam to organise an exhibition & sale of children's
Artworks on the 6th, 7th & 13th of January 2002 during the Orthodox Christmas. We
received all of the artwork featured in the exhibition from the Crimean
Regional Children Hospital (Ukraine) where the sick children in the hospital
had created all of the artwork themselves (drawings, embroideries, beads handcrafts
etc.). This project has been a great initiative as it has given the children
an opportunity not just to have to rely on others to help them, but instead has
allowed the children be in a position to help themselves & other children
in the hospital. Which will give them a fantastic feeling of achievement knowing
that they have contributed something towards the cases in most urgent need of
treatment. The exhibition received a great response & we managed to
raise the total amount of 405 Euro. All of the funds raised from the exhibition
will be used to help children within in the hospital who require the most urgent
care. We would like to thank everyone helped organised the event and to
all those who contributed for your generosity & support. |
22-01-2002 In the beginning of January we were contacted by
the Children's Hospital of Crimea with details of a young boy who is desperately
in need of urgent treatment after suffering a relapse. Alexy Gustenko requires
a second bone marrow transplantation for his condition lymphoma. After
discussions with the Charity Foundation "Parental Initiative" who are
based at the hospital, we decided that the best use of the funds raised from this
campaign would be to donate the money towards the cost of Alexy's operation. Read
